getting your italian citizenship with la dolce vita

We know that starting the journey to getting your Italian citizenship can feel both exciting and intimidating – you don’t know what to expect, what happens when (and where), or what the whole journey even entails.

With that in mind, we’ve created this article – to outline exactly how we at La Dolce Vita will handle your Italian citizenship case from beginning to end.

After many years of experience, having assisted hundreds of clients in acquiring Italian citizenship, we’ve developed a seamless three-stage process.

As a result, our dedicated team of citizenship specialists offers a hands-on approach tailored specifically to the needs of busy, family-oriented individuals like you.

So, let us walk you through the Italian Citizenship process, according to La Dolce Vita:

Stage 1

Confirming your Eligibility

Every journey to Italian citizenship begins with a simple, but crucial, question: Are you eligible?

After you book our Free Discovery Call with our Senior Citizenship Specialist Jelena, you will be directed to fill out one of our comprehensive Evaluation Forms with as much information you have on your case, whether it be Citizenship by Descent or Citizenship by Marriage.

We charge a fee of $150 for conducting the thorough evaluation research, which will later be deducted from the package price should you decide to proceed with our services.

Following the evaluation, you will receive a comprehensive report on your case and a link to all the documents that confirm your eligibility for Italian citizenship.

We then get our hands dirty by diving into thorough research, exhausting all available online resources to piece together your eligibility. This usually takes us about a week, though sometimes we can wrap it up a bit quicker.

An important part of this stage is determining the best route to take for your case – through a consulate application or a court case (for those tracing their lineage through a female ancestor). Find out more about this distinction here.

Your role in this stage is absolutely vital. The more information you can provide about your ancestors, the better the chances for a smooth citizenship journey. Key details like exact birth or marriage dates and places are not just formalities to get through– they help us identify the right people in your family tree, quickly and correctly.

Important to note; sending any old documents that you might have related to the ancestor who migrated from Italy, however insignificant you might think they are, will absolutely speed up this stage. Our citizenship specialists are experts in deciphering old documentation and will find valuable insight into your heritage in any paperwork you can provide.

Once the evaluation part is done, we have determined that you are eligible for Italian citizenship and you have decided to proceed with us, we’ll be jumping onto:

Stage 2

Document Collection and Preparation

This stage is all about teamwork. We’ll lead you through gathering all required documents, making necessary amendments and getting Apostilles.

If your vital records span across different states, you don’t need to worry about checking their requirements, that’s what we’re here for. To make this process as seamless as possible for you, we’ll check the requirements, prepare the requests, and even call the offices on your behalf when needed. You will get detailed instructions, explanations and reasons for each step taken – think of us as your personal guides through this bureaucratic maze.

Keep in mind that while we will prepare document request forms on your behalf, the most important part is in your hands – signing them and mailing them to the relevant authorities. Once all the documents are gathered and apostilled, we will handle the translations and help you assemble your citizenship portfolio.

At this stage, we clear away all of the confusion you might have about the Italian citizenship application process – this is where you’ll learn how getting your citizenship actually works and what it takes to get to the end of the journey.

We believe in keeping everything transparent and simple. If you have questions, fire away. After all, we are here to answer any questions you may have, or clear up any doubts that may arise in the process.

You will never be left in the dark, waiting for days on end for a response – we aim for a 48-hour turnaround, except for holidays or if we’ve notified you we’re out of the office.

Plus, we’ll keep a shared document so you can track your documents and progress in real-time.

Stage 3

Citizenship Application and the Final Steps

The final stage is all about the consular appointment. We’ll prep you on what to expect, the questions you might be asked, and how to present your documentation. This appointment is a big deal, and we want to make sure you walk in confident and ready.

After your appointment, we’re eager to hear how it went. Any feedback, questions, or additional tasks from the consulate? Let us know so we can tackle them ASAP. If all goes well and no further documents are needed, we wait together for the good news!

Following your citizenship recognition, La Dolce Vita is still here for you, and will be right up until you’re holding your Italian passport in hand.

Wrapping Up

Gaining Italian citizenship is much more than just filling out some forms and waiting a while. It truly is a journey of exploring your family’s past, followed by a crash course through Italian legal labyrinths and finally, stepping into your new identity.

We are confident that with our tailored three-stage process and expert guidance you will experience none of the stress this journey would otherwise entail and make your dream of acquiring Italian citizenship a reality in no time.
